Explosive device found in home for sale

FRANCONIA, Va. – A cleaning crew Monday night found an explosive device in a vacant home that’s for sale, Fairfax County Police said.

Police described the device found in the townhome in the 6500 block of Gildar Street as an unusual looking box with tape and wires. Gildar Street is off Beulah Street.

The police department’s explosive ordnance disposal unit removed the device from the home and rendered it safe, police said.

Police are continuing to investigate.
