Thousands lost power in Fairfax. Co. after contractor injury

WASHINGTON – Nearly 5,000 households were without power Tuesday after a contractor doing electrical work along Hunter Mill Road and the Washington and Old Dominion Trail was shocked and burned.

Dominion Power tells WTOP the contractor was injured around 4:50 p.m.

The contractor was burned over 50 percent of his body. A witness spotted the man out and called 911. He was flown to Washington Hospital Center and is being treated for serious injuries.

He is expected to survive.

Power has been restored for the majority of customers.
