Wednesday - 1/18/2012, 9:33am  ET

FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) - Fairfax County has seen a significant increase in reports of child abuse following the Penn State sex abuse scandal.

The county police department's Child Abuse Squad, which investigates allegations of sex abuse, received 39 reports last month. That's twice as many as a year ago.

Detectives and an expert from the county's Office for Women and Domestic and Sexual Violence Services will discuss the issue in an online chat on the county's website Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Questions can be submitted now at fairfaxcounty.gov/askfairfax.
