WASHINGTON -- Virginia State Police are still searching for a driver who fled the scene after striking and killing a man on I-495 in the early morning hours of Aug. 24.
A state trooper found the body of Dohyung Kim, 30, of Philadelphia, in the Interstate near a 2011 gray Nissan Frontier that was stopped in the shoulder. The medical examiner's report states that Kim's injuries are related to being struck by a vehicle.
Evidence suggests that the Nissan Frontier was in a minor collision earlier in the same area. Virginia State police are still piecing together evidence to figure out the exact location and time of that incident.
Kim and a passenger, Je Ki Ma, 42, were traveling from Annandale when the wreck happened. Police say they don't know why Kim stopped and got out of the car near Telegraph Road where he was hit.
Police say Ma was unconcious in the passenger seat of Kim's car at the time of the hit-and-run. He was arrested for public intoxication.
Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call (703) 803-0027.
