Police: Thieves rob 91-year-old woman in Arlington

ARLINGTON, Va. — Arlington County police officers are trying to track down two suspects they say lied to an elderly woman and stole from her home.

According to a statement from the police department, two men posed as utility workers and went to the 91-year-old victim’s home this past Saturday.

“Someone came to the door and beat on it,” the victim tells WTOP.

She does not want to be identified and would only speak through the mail slot.

“They said the wires are all loose, it was very believable,” she explains.

The two men eventually ran off with several valuable items from her home.

“Those son of a (expletive) were just awful,” says the victim. “If I could get my hands on them I would shred them.”

Arlington County police are reminding the public: Never let anyone in your house if they do not have proper identification.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police department by calling 703-228-4185 or emailing jtrain@arlingtonva.us.
