A 24-year-old Arlington man was arrested last week and charged with strangling and assaulting his pregnant ex-girlfriend in the affluent Woodmont neighborhood of Arlington.
The incident occurred on Monday, Aug. 6, when the pregnant woman stopped by the suspect’s house on the 2800 block of 24th Street N. to pick up some of her belongings. According to police, the suspect handed her a bag with some of her belongings, but not all of them. She attempted to enter the residence; at that time, police say, the suspect — Alexander Ludan — placed her in a headlock and started punching her.
The woman couldn’t breathe and was losing consciousness during the assault, but managed to punch Ludan in the nose, according to Arlington County Police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck. Ludan let go of the woman, but then spat blood in her face and continued to punch her, Sternbeck said.
Ludan was arrested and charged with strangulation and domestic assault and battery. The woman “sustained numerous bodily injuries from the assault,” according to police.
