Not by a TV? Websites, apps help with March Madness viewing

WASHINGTON — March Madness is underway, which may mean a drop in productivity at workplaces around the country — and technology is facilitating in the process.

Smartphone applications and websites are making it easier than ever to follow all the NCAA tournament games.

Several sports sites such as CBS Sports, ESPN and NCAA’s March Madness site provide live score updates. The NCAA will provide free access to live stream the games through its site, too.

Games broadcast on CBS will be available to stream for free, but the games broadcast on TBS, TNT or truTV will still require users to log in using their pay TV provider information.

Not able to make it to a computer or TV? Smartphone apps, such as the official March Madness app, make viewing convenient. The March Madness app provides direct access to all of the games, live streams, stats, schedules and highlights.

Another app, TuneIn, allows fans to listen to the games’ broadcast through radio syndication.

For those with social media savvy, updates will stream in through Twitter and Facebook, too. Twitter created a list of handles for all of the teams participating in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.
