LONG LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- Authorities in northern Michigan have released the name of a 58-year-old Virginia man who drowned in a lake near Traverse City.
The Grand Traverse County sheriff's department says he's John Braswell of Alexandria, just outside Washington, D.C. He drowned Friday while trying to swim between an island in Long Lake and the shore.
Braswell had told another swimmer that he couldn't make it and would try to swim back to the island.
