ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Capital Bikeshare just celebrated it's first birthday and its 1 millionth ride, is widely popular in the District and Arlington, is spreading to Rockville and could soon be coming to Alexandria.
The city council discussed a plan to bring the shiny red bikes to the streets of Alexandria this week.
"We have seen huge success in Alexandria with people biking," says councilman Rob Krupicka.
Krupicak says there are several spots that would be natural for the program, like Old Town and the Del Ray areas.
"I think giving people options, other than being stuck in their car is a good thing," says Krupicka.
If approved at a meeting on Oct. 11, Capital Bikeshare could be ready in the city by next July.
