Neil Diamond working on music inspired by Boston bombings (VIDEO)

WASHINGTON – Neil Diamond got a rousing reception over the weekend at Fenway Park when he led the home crowd in a sing-a-long of his hit “Sweet Caroline,” which has become a Fenway staple.

Diamond’s appearance was a tribute to the city that was recovering from Monday’s Boston Marathon bombings and the capture of the suspected bomber Friday night.

Now, Diamond tells Rolling Stone he was moved to do even more.

The iconic singer says he was inspired to write new material about the marathon bombings and violence in general.

“I’m writing now and obviously affected by this situation in Boston, so I’m writing about it just to express myself,” he tells Rolling Stone.

The magazine reports there is no timeline for the release of the song or new material.
