WASHINGTON - Dierks is an absolutely adorable 3-year-old spaniel mix -- seriously, just look at that face -- who arrived at the Washington Animal Rescue League over the summer, suffering from heartworm disease.

Now that he's successfully completed his treatment, he can't wait to find a home of his own.

Dierks can be choosey about his canine companions and isn't fond of cats, but he loves people.

He'd be happiest with people who are home a lot and want to really share their lives with him. Could that be you?

WTOP Living is partnering with the Washington Animal Rescue League to feature a Pet of the Week available for adoption. For more information about Dierks, email adoption@warl.org or call 202-726-2556 ext. 503.

About WARL: Founded in 1914, the Washington Animal Rescue League is the oldest animal shelter in Washington D.C.
