An app that can help develop better vision

WASHINGTON — Aaron Seitz, a neuroscientist from the University of California- Riverside, says more than 100 million people worldwide have vision problems.

Now, he’s got an app for that.

UltimEyes gives the user a series tasks that train the brain to adapt to vision changes, just like with body exercises.

“We like to think that our brain is going to be doing this optimally, but that’s not the case,” Seitz tells Smithsonian magazine.

So far, it seems to be working. A university baseball team saw a 31 percent improvement after using the app, according to the magazine.

Seitz says that there are still a lot of questions to be answered, but he’s received funding to do more testing.
