WASHINGTON - "Stay thrifty my friends!"
That's the line Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot is using to encourage consumers to check money they may have left lying around in old bank accounts or stocks.
Even Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley had some forgotten funds sitting around. In Wednesday's Board of Public Works meeting in Annapolis, Francoth handed O'Malley a check for $721.
O'Malley, who's often clashed publicly with Franchot joked, "This is the first thing you've ever given me!"
