Crumbs Bake Shop, the cupcake chain that closed all of its stores in July, begins reopening many of its locations under new owners this month, including Washington locations.
The first Crumbs reopening is set for Tuesday in New York’s Garment District.
Its new owners include CNBC personality Marcus Lemonis, host of the realty show “The Profit,” who joined with Fischer Enterprises LLC to buy the company.
“We’ll be leveraging collaborations between Crumbs and other companies in my portfolio in the coming months to introduce a wide variety of treats that consumers across the country will have access to,” Lemonis said.
Crumbs hopes new menu items will help grow sales, including what it calls a “Baissant,” a cross between a bagel and a croissant.
In addition to Tuesday’s New York opening, Crumbs will reopen and additional 25 locations in the next 30 days, including stores in Washington, Boston, Chicago and Los Angeles.
It did not say which Washington locations would reopen. Before July’s companywide shutdown, it operated three Crumbs locations in D.C., one in Clarendon and one in Tysons Corner.
