Boston-based Clover Food Lab planning several D.C. locations?

Clover Food Labs, a string of vegetarian, fast-food restaurants and food trucks in the Boston region, has its eye on D.C., apparently.

Clover founder Ayr Muir tells Boston Magazine in its August issue that their first location in D.C. will open this fall, and several more are in the works.

Clover Food Labs serves a rotating menu of sandwiches, salads and other meatless entrees and sides — including the signature chick pea fritters — made from products sourced as locally as possible, according to its website.

Muir was open about looking for space in D.C. earlier this year when he posted on Prince of Petworth after a trip to D.C. to scout real estate.

At one point, he was looking at the development planned for the old Central Union Mission building on 14th St. NW, as well as the Newsom building on H Street NE — although that’s no longer available, as my colleague Mike Neibauer detailed earlier this week.

We’ve reached out to Clover for more information on the first location and will update this post when we learn more.
