Passenger removed from flight at Phoenix airport

PHOENIX (AP) — Authorities say an airplane was forced to land at a Phoenix airport after a passenger who had been drinking became unruly.

Phoenix police spokesman James Holmes says an American Airlines flight from Los Angeles bound for Miami was diverted to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport late Tuesday, after a confrontation between two passengers.

Holmes says a 28-year-old man traveling with a wedding party had consumed several alcoholic drinks. He then got into an argument with another passenger around 11:30 p.m.

According to police, the man then refused a flight attendant’s orders.

The plane was forced to land in Phoenix, where the man was removed.

Holmes says because no airline employees or travelers wanted to press charges, the passenger was released and booked on a later flight.
