Peet’s Coffee & Tea ready for its D.C. debut

It can take time to brew a good cup of coffee. The same may be said for a coffeehouse. It has taken Peet’s Coffee & Tea nearly 18 months after  gaining a foothold in the Washington market with its purchase of Caribou Coffee to open its own Peet’s location. But that moment is now at hand.

As  first reported last November, the first coffee shop to fly the Peet’s flag in the Washington area will be the former Caribou at 1701 Pennsylvania Ave. NW. It is scheduled to open Monday,  The Washington Post reports

Six other local Peet’s locations are in the works, as listed on  Peet’s website, including the  ground-up build-out of a store at 1001 Pennsylvania Ave. NW and two Bethesda locations — the only two outside D.C. so far.

That may not be the case for long. A total of 22 more stores, many of them at former Caribou Coffee locations, will follow in the next few months, according to The Post.
