BEDFORD, Va. (AP) -- A longtime attraction along the Blue Ridge Parkway in Bedford County is reopening after a nearly eight-month hiatus.

The Peaks of Otter Lodge and Restaurant on the Blue Ridge Parkway is set to reopen Friday under new management.

The lodge and restaurant had closed in November 2012 after its previous operator decided not to bid on a new contract with the National Park Service.

Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts entered into a 10-year contract to operate the lodge in April. Media outlets report that the attraction will be open through mid-December.

The 63-room lodge was built in 1964 and had been open mostly year-round since 1977.
