Donations needed to help others have a happy Thanksgiving

WASHINGTON — Montgomery County is looking for people who want to help others
give thanks this holiday season.

The Holiday Giving Project, sponsored by the county’s Department of Health and
Human Services and coordinated by A Wider Circle, is looking for donations of
turkeys, chickens and grocery-store gift cards for families in need.

The county says that more than 9,000 families depend on help from
their neighbors to make their Thanksgiving meals complete.

You can drop off donations at:

  • Adventist Community Services of Greater Washington

    501 Sligo Ave., Silver Spring, Md.

    Drop-off hours: Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

  • Gaithersburg Community Services
    1 Wells Ave., Gaithersburg, Md.

    Drop-off hours: Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

  • Rainbow Community Development Center

    2120-A Industrial Parkway, Silver Spring, Md.

    Drop-off hours: Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m., but call 301-625-2561 before

    4101 Norbeck Rd., Rockville, Md.

    Drop-offs are only accepted Tuesday, Nov. 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call the

  • Western Upper Montgomery County (WUMCO) HELP

    21140 Beallsville Rd., Dickerson, Md.

    Dropoff hours: Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., but call 301-972-8481 before you
    come.
