CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) — Authorities are looking for the former occupants of a vacant home near Cumberland where nine dead dogs were found.
The Cumberland Times-News (http://bit.ly/1yEK5FH ) reports that three more dogs were rescued from the residence in the Bel Air subdivision Thursday.
Tina Rafferty of the Allegany County Animal Shelter Management Foundation says animal control officers and a sheriff’s deputy visited the home Thursday afternoon in response to a call.
A nearby resident says she and her neighbors had called animal control repeatedly in the past month after seeing newspapers piled up on the porch and flies covering the interior windows
Rafferty says the dogs appeared to be of a mixed collie breed.
