WASHINGTON (AP) — Metro says weekend work will only affect the red line over the Independence Day holiday weekend.
Metro says it plans no work Friday on the July 4 holiday. Trains will run on a Saturday schedule until about 2 p.m. before increasing to near rush-hour service before and after the fireworks. Off-peak fares will be in effect all day and parking will be free at all Metro-operated facilities. Metrobus will operate on a Saturday schedule.
On Saturday and Sunday, Metro says there will be regular weekend service except on the red line, where trains will run every 15 minutes between Shady Grove and Glenmont and every 10 minutes between Grosvenor and Silver Spring from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
