LONDON (AP) — A foal of undefeated race horse Frankel was sold along with its mother Crystal Gaze for 1.15 million pounds ($1.96 million) in an auction at Kensington Palace on Monday.
The colt is the first offspring of the late Henry Cecil’s undefeated champion to come under the hammer. Crystal Gaze is expecting a second foal by Frankel next year.
Both horses were bought by M.V. Magnier, the son of Coolmore Stud owner John Magnier, who said he was acting on behalf of a four-person partnership.
Seller Tweenhills Stud is owned and managed by David Redvers, who says “it’s a bit sad to see the whole package go, as the mare is a sweetheart.”
The sale was held in association with Sheik Fahad’s Qipco Holding.
