Finding gifts for Father’s Day on Pinterest

WASHINGTON – For years, dads everywhere open boxes and bags on father’s day to find cigars, sports apparel, grilling tools and “World’s Best Dad” mugs.

This year, popular inspiration board website Pinterest wants you to step away from the tie rack and try something new for dear old dad.

Known for its collection of DIY tutorials and gorgeous food photos, Pinterest is also a place to find gift inspirations. These five Father’s Day ideas will have you thinking outside the cigar box.

For the New Dad

Have a little one running around the house? Personalize a piece of apparel with your kiddo’s artwork. This tutorial shows you how.

For the Eco-Friendly Dad

Every man has at least one tie he will never wear. Use that tie to make him a reusable cup sleeve that keeps his hands from burning while saving the trees.

For Mr. Fix-It

Your dad knows the value of a well-maintained house. Instead of buying him more power tools, help another family make their home as sturdy as yours by donating to Habitat For Humanity in his name. This pin shows you how to do just that.

For the Grill Master

He’ll grill just about anything. But when it comes to sauces, barbecue is his favorite. Make and jar of your own barbecue sauce (or any family sauce recipe) and put a personalized label on it.

For the Lager Lover

If he spends more than five minutes in the beer aisle, he’s particular about his brews. Give dad this kit from Brooklyn Brew Shop and he can make his own beer.
