WASHINGTON - WTOP Living is partnering with the Washington Animal Rescue League to feature a Pet of the Week available for adoption. Meet this week's pet below.
Age: 4-years old
Breed: Retriever/collie mix
Bio: Maya is a 4-year-old blonde beauty from Kuwait. Although her ancestry is a mystery, her color, perky ears and long slender muzzle suggest she may be a retriever/collie mix.
Maya is distinctive not only because of her pretty face, but also because she is a "tripawd."
According to veterinarians, her left front leg appeared to have been badly broken a year or so before she arrived at the Kuwaiti shelter. Improper healing had left it so damaged that the kindest course of action was to remove the painful, useless limb.
Today, Maya gets around just fine on three legs, but has no desire to run a marathon.
This sweet, shy, gentle girl would rather enjoy a life of comfort and leisure, including a couple of short walks a day. Perhaps because of her rough start in life, Maya is intimidated by small children and other dogs, and yearns for a home where she can be someone's "one and only." In return, she'll give you a lifetime of love, loyalty, and devotion.
For more information about Maya, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 202-726-2556 ext. 503.
