WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) -- The Delaware Medical Examiner's office says a skull found in a scallop net in 2003 has been identified as that of a missing Virginia man who fell overboard the year before.
The Medical Examiner's Office says the skull has been identified as that of 45-year-old Sabino Acosta Hernandez. Deputy Director Hal Brown says his office is preparing to return the skull to family members and he has spoken with the man's son in Florida. However, Brown told The News Journal (http://delonline.us/ZjDQ7U) Hernandez's son has not returned recent emails or telephone calls.
State officials say Hernandez was a crew member on the Lady Helen, a fishing boat based in Hampton, Va. Hernandez was finally identified in January when DNA extracted from a tooth matched DNA in an FBI database.
