VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) -- The Virginia-based charity Operation Blessing International is teaming up with a community-based group to serve up a Thanksgiving feast for first responders in a waterfront New York community hit especially hard by Superstorm Sandy.

The feast will be served up Wednesday in Breezy Point, N.Y., where roughly 100 homes burned to the ground in a massive wind-swept fire. The Virginia Beach-based charity will cook up the full Thanksgiving dinner with Friends of Firefighters for the first responders as well as residents of Breezy Point.

Several hundred people are expected to sit down to a traditional Thanksgiving bounty of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes with gravy and green beans, followed by apple and peach cobblers.

Operation Blessing has already delivered 280,000 pounds of food, water and supplies to Sandy's victims.
