Frederick rescuers save 2 men, 1 officer in water

FREDERICK, Md. - Frederick County authorities have made two water rescues due to flooding from the Monocacy River.
The Frederick News-Post ( http://bit.ly/TWYlL6) reports emergency responders were called to the river about 2 p.m. Tuesday for the report of two men in the water hanging onto trees. The men had decided to go out on the flooded river in an inflatable raft.
Rescuers found one man partially submerged and used throw ropes to reach him. Officials say the man eventually lost his grip on the tree and began floating downstream. The other man was rescued by a crew in a boat.
In another case, a Maryland State Police trooper was rescued from his police cruiser after it began filling with water Tuesday morning. The trooper was on duty when he ran into high water.
