Markets closed because of Hurricane Sandy...Airline flights grounded...Most reliable car brands named

NEW YORK (AP) -- Business on Wall Street will have to wait until after Hurricane Sandy passes by. U.S. stock and bond markets are closed today and will remain closed again tomorrow.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Thousands of airline flights have been grounded in the U.S. because of Hurricane Sandy. The massive storm threatens to halt air travel for at least two days in the key region for both domestic and international flights.

LONDON (AP) -- Two of the world's biggest publishing houses are to merge. Pearson will marry its Penguin Books division with Random House, which is owned by German media company Bertelsmann. The result will be the world's largest publisher of consumer books, with about a quarter of the market.

DETROIT (AP) -- Japanese brands emerge the top performers in Consumer Reports' annual rankings of vehicle reliability. The magazine says Toyota's Scion, Lexus and Toyota brands take the top three spots. Mazda, Subaru and Honda are close behind. The best-performing U.S. brand was Cadillac.

NEW YORK (AP) -- EBay's PayPal unit says it will cut 325 full-time jobs. The San Jose, California-based company says it is also ending work with about 120 independent contractors worldwide.
