Bethune-Cookman beats Norfolk State 13-7

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Rony Barrow and Ty’re Simmons tackled Aaron Daniel in the end zone for a safety to give Bethune-Cookman the lead early in the fourth quarter and the Wildcats held off Norfolk State 13-7 on Thursday night to take the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference lead.

Bethune-Cookman (8-2, 5-1) broke a five-way tie for the conference lead.

Ben Noboa added a 24-yard field goal with 10:25 left, and the Wildcats completed the scoring with another safety when Barrow and David Perry trapped quarterback Terrance Ervin in the end zone with 1:21 left.

Norfolk State (4-6, 4-2) opened the scoring in the first quarter on Ervin’s 16-yard pass to Chris Lee. Bethune-Cookman cut it to 7-6 midway through the second on Quentin Williams’ 23-yard pass to Jhomo Gordon.
