LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) — A grand jury will examine a day care fire in Lynchburg that killed two children.
The Lynchburg Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office tells media outlets that the case will be presented to the grand jury on Nov. 3. The grand jury will decide whether to file any charges.
The fire occurred Sept. 19 at a day care operated by Doris Lee in her home. Twenty-one-month-old Kayden Curtis and 9-month-old Dakota Penn-Williams later died from injuries suffered in the fire.
The victims were among seven children in the home at the time of the fire.
City officials have said the day care didn’t have a license.
Lee has declined to comment on the fire.
