CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — Some Virginia players say “tunnel vision” keeps them from noticing all the empty seats at Scott Stadium.

Defensive end Eli Harold isn’t among them. He says, “You can’t help but see it looking up in the stands.”

Harold and the Cavaliers (3-2, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) hope that changes on Saturday night when Virginia hosts Pittsburgh (3-2, 1-0).

Virginia has already surpassed its victory total of last season, but is drawing an average of just 36,906 to a stadium with a capacity of 61,500.

Harold says he hopes the fans make this night game better than the last one Virginia hosted because, “We didn’t have people here.”

That game was in November 2012 on a Thursday night against North Carolina. It drew 45,760 fans.
