Woodrum’s 4 TD passes lead Liberty past Brevard

LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) — Josh Woodrum threw a career-high four touchdown passes and Liberty beat Brevard College 56-31 Saturday night.

Woodrum completed 14 of 16 passes for 327 yards.

Darrin Peterson and D.J. Abnar recorded career-highs with 182 yards receiving and 161 yards rushing, respectively. Peterson caught one touchdown and Abnar ran for two more.

Liberty (2-1) racked up 625 yards total offense and averaged 16.5 yards per play. The Flames scored touchdowns on all but two drives and punted just once. The only other Liberty drive ended on a missed 45-yard field goal attempt.

Jordan Ollis led Brevard (0-2) with 34 carries for 168 yards and three touchdowns. Tanner Wright added 103 yards rushing and a score as the Tornados ran for 392 of their 425 total yards.

Dylan Lewellyn recorded a career-high 16 tackles, the most by a Liberty player since Brandon Robinson’s 15 in 2011.
