Bowling Green eases past VMI 48-7

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) — Travis Greene ran for 129 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead Bowling Green to a 48-7 win against Virginia Military Institute on Saturday.

On the Falcons’ first possession, Greene ran seven times for 53 yards and quarterback James Knapke punched in a 1-yard touchdown run. Greene scored two more touchdowns in the second quarter and Bowling Green (1-1) had a 34-7 lead at halftime.

Greene ran for 115 yards in the first half for Bowling Green. Knapke finished with 237 yards passing and threw a 51-yard touchdown pass to Roger Lewis in the fourth quarter. Lewis finished with 140 receiving yards for Bowling Green.

The Keydets’ punter Hayden Alford briefly replaced Al Cobb at quarterback and had a 1-yard touchdown run after a 41-yard pass to Doug Burton in the second quarter, giving Virginia Military Institute (0-2) its only score. Cobb threw for 224 yards and Alford had 63.
