Metroway bus service debuts in Va.

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) — Traveling to places between the Braddock Road and Crystal City Metro stations has gotten a little easier.

A new Metro service called Metroway debuts Sunday and will use dedicated bus lanes along the Route 1 corridor. The five mile route currently includes 22 stops between the Crystal City and Braddock Road Metro stations, both of which are served by the yellow and blue lines.

Metroway buses will run every 12 minutes during daytime off-peak hours and every 15 minutes in the evening. During rush hour there’ll be buses every six minutes between the Crystal City Metro station and South Glebe Road. On weekends, buses will run every 20 minutes.

The bus fare is the same as on Metrobus. Additional stations are expected to open in 2015.
