RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- A woman has admitted helping cover up the slaying of her stepsister in Richmond.
Forty-year-old Yvette Hairston pleaded guilty Wednesday in Richmond Circuit Court to concealing a dead body.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1xAPqxi) reports a judge then sentenced her to the maximum five years in prison but suspended all but five months of that.
Hairston also was ordered to make restitution of $2,200 to help cover the burial costs for 20-year-old Samantha Myers.
Police found Myers' body stuff in a drain pipe in a ravine March 24. She had been struck in the head with a hammer.
Jamarr Hursey agreed to plead guilty to second-degree murder in the case in return for a 20-year sentence. His girlfriend, Selena Y. Hairston, was sentenced to 17 years on the same charge.
