Free clinic in Wise County treats more than 2,500

WISE, Va. (AP) — More than 2,500 people received free medical care at an annual clinic in Wise County.

The Remote Area Medical Clinic, or RAM, provides medical, dental and vision care to the working poor and the uninsured.

The Health Wagon spearheads the annual event. The Health Wagon’s clinical director, Paula Meade, tells The Bristol Herald Courier (http://bit.ly/1jSrK6T ), that more people likely would have sought treatment if the weather had been better.

The clinic began Friday morning and ended Sunday afternoon. Rain persisted for most of the weekend.

Another RAM clinic will be held in September at the Lee County Airport in Jonesville. The clinic will be the first RAM event in Lee County.
