CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) -- More than 70 people are now U.S. citizens following an annual naturalization ceremony at Monticello.
Media outlets report that people from 39 countries took oaths of citizenship on Saturday during the Fourth of July ceremony at Thomas Jefferson's home in Virginia.
More than 3,000 people have been sworn in as U.S. citizens since the Fourth of July tradition began in 1963.
The annual celebration also commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
