RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- A Richmond police officer plans to adopt a kitten that was rescued from a 75-foot interstate pillar.
Police tell media outlets that a passerby heard the kitten meow and saw it on an Interstate 95 pillar in downtown Richmond. She called the police department.
Officer Kelly Morley and other officers tried to rescue the kitten from above. They couldn't reach the kitten, so they called the Richmond Fire Department.
The fire department sent a ladder truck and firefighter Betty Migliaccio rescued the kitten.
Police say the kitten rescued last week is about 4 weeks old. Morley plans to adopt it when it's old enough to leave the care of Richmond Animal Care and Control.
