Car hits bear in Virginia Beach, animal euthanized

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) — Virginia Beach authorities have euthanized a black bear that was hit by a car.

Police tell media outlets that the bear suffered severe injuries and couldn’t be saved.

The driver wasn’t injured.

The accident occurred around 3 a.m. Tuesday.

Animal control officers estimate the bear weighed about 200 pounds and was around 2 years old.

Two other bears have been captured in Virginia Beach and released within the past two weeks.
