2nd ‘bottle bomb’ suspect now charged in Va.

FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) — A second man has now been charged in Virginia with setting off “bottle bombs” inside crowded movie theaters.

Twenty-three-year-old Michael Hollingsworth was arrested on Friday in Maryland. Authorities say he was the accomplice of 20-year-old Manuel Joyner Bell, who has already been charged with felonies related to the explosions in both states.

Authorities say Joyner Bell confessed to setting off six bottle bombs at five movie theaters in the Washington area this spring. The device is made by combining an acid and a base inside a sealed plastic bottle, causing it to explode.

Fairfax County fire investigators say Hollingsworth has been charged with three counts of creating, possessing or using a bomb or explosive, three counts of arson and three coutns of use of a weapon for a terrorist act.
