RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — The Transportation Security Administration says two passengers have been arrested after bringing handguns into Virginia airports.
The TSA says the incidents occurred at the Richmond and Lynchburg airports Friday, a day after a record 18 guns were confiscated at airport security checkpoints nationwide.
According to the TSA, police arrested a Chesterfield County man who brought a .22 caliber gun loaded with two rounds, plus an additional 12 rounds of loose ammunition, into the Richmond International Airport. Police also arrested a Forest resident with a loaded .45 caliber handgun at the Lynchburg Regional Airport.
In both cases, TSA officers detected the guns inside carry-on bags as they passed through X-ray machines.
