1st Congressional District GOP primary on June 10

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — First Congressional District voters in eastern Virginia will choose between incumbent Rep. Rob Wittman and Anthony Riedel, a spokesman for the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation, in a primary election Tuesday.

Wittman is a former state employee and member of the Virginia House of Delegates. He was first elected to Congress in 2007. His campaign had more than $1 million on hand, according to most recent campaign finance reports.

Riedel has never held public office. He’s raised about $23,000 for his campaign.

There’s no announced Democrat running in the general election.
