USDA to survey Va. farms’ crops, supply levels

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Nearly 1,600 farms across Virginia will be surveyed by the federal government in June to determine this year’s crop production and supply levels.

The surveys will be conducted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.

Growers will be asked to provide information on crop acreage, grain stocks, livestock inventory, cash rents, land values and value of sales.

The information will be compiled and analyzed by the statistics service. Results will be published in a series of reports.

The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is encouraging farmers to participate in the surveys.
