Police: park in Purcellville vandalized

PURCELLVILLE, Va. (AP) — Authorities say someone got access to work trucks at a park in Purcellville and used them to do extensive damage to the park grounds and structures.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office says damage from the vandalism at Franklin Park is estimated at $25,000.

The vandalism was discovered shortly before 7 a.m. Saturday. Police say the park is closed while they investigate.

The 200-acre park includes a playground, sports facilities, a fishing pond and pedestrian and equestrian trails.
