VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) -- Virginia Beach police say this year's College Beach Weekend was uneventful, with only a few minor incidents.
That's in contrast to the 2013 event, which resulted in three shootings, three stabbings and numerous fights.
Police tell media outlets that the city assigned extra officers to work over the weekend. The officers wore reflective vests to make themselves more visible.
The police department also set up a mobile command center at the Oceanfront and a police helicopter flew overhead.
Estimates of this year's crowd weren't available. The 2013 event drew about 40,000 people.
