Spotsylvania police seek man involved in store clerk shooting

WASHINGTON– The Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s office in Virginia is seeking a male suspect in the shooting of a store clerk early Saturday morning at Fas Mart convenient store in Locust Grove area.

The sheriff’s office released this composite sketch of the suspect in the shooting on April 20.

The female clerk is in serious condition with gun shot wounds to the head. Police say the gunman entered the store at 11600 Brock Road around 3 a.m., pretended to purchase an item and waited for the store clerk to turn away before pulling out a handgun and shooting her twice in the head.

Police say the man left her lying on the floor as he grabbed an undetermined amount of cash and merchandise, and fled from the scene.

The Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office is urgently seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect,who is described as a 25-35 years-old, white male with a goatee. He is between 5 feet 4 inches and 5 feet 7 inches tall, and weighs between 160 and 170 pounds. According to video surveillance, he was wearing a dark hoodie sweat shirt and jeans, and was armed with an unknown caliber handgun.

The 32-year-old female victim was transported to Mary Washington Hospital and subsequently flown to a trauma unit in Richmond, Va.
