RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Virginia State Police say storm-slickened roads were factors in three traffic deaths.
All three accidents occurred Monday as a winter storm covered roads across the state with snow and ice.
State police say 35-year-old Sarah Singleton of Warfield died after a vehicle she was riding in went out of control, ran off a road, hit a tree and went down an embankment in Brunswick County.
Eighteen-year-old Mika T. Leclerc of Rustburg died after she lost control of her eastbound vehicle on Village Highway in Campbell County. The vehicle spun backward into the westbound lane and was hit by pickup truck. The pickup's driver wasn't injured.
A 30-year-old man died after he lost control of his pickup truck and ran off a road in Amelia County. His name hasn't been released.
