Police ID murdered store employee in Prince William County

WASHINGTON — The Prince William County Police Department is asking for the public’s help investigating a murder at the Platanillos Grocery and Jewelry located in Woodbridge, Va.

On Feb. 21 at 8:59 p.m., officers responded to the store located at 14342 Jefferson Davis Highway to investigate a shooting. Officers arrived at the business and located two women, both with gunshot wounds to the upper body.

One of the victims, 21-year-old Glenda Marisol Coca-Romero, died at the scene while the second victim, a 42-year-old woman who has not been identified, was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses reported to police that three males were seen entering the store followed by gunshots. The suspects immediately fled the business after the shooting, possibly on foot. Two additional people, a customer and another employee, were also inside the store at the time of the incident and were unharmed. No property or money was taken during the incident, according to a statement by Prince William County Police.

The victims were both identified as employees of the business. A police K-9 was used to search for the suspects. The races and ages of the suspects are unknown as they were all wearing dark clothing.
