NORFOLK, Va. (AP) -- Operation Blessing International is helping Norfolk residents in need of snow removal.
The Virginia Beach-based charity said Thursday that the "Snow Buddy" volunteer program will help those who don't have the equipment or ability to remove snow outside their homes.
Operation Blessing is using disaster relief staff from its headquarters and will some heavy equipment. Volunteers are being sought for snow removal Friday and Saturday.
Volunteers can call (757) 374-0944. A command center has been set up at the Lowes parking lot along North Military Highway in Norfolk.
Residents who need help can call (757) 274-8650. The charity says priority will be given to people such as the elderly, sick, disabled and single mothers, and will based on the availability of volunteers.
