NORFOLK, Va. -- The submarine USS Scranton is returning to Virginia following a deployment to the European and Central Command areas of responsibility.
The Scranton is scheduled to arrive at Norfolk Naval Station on Monday.
The Navy tells media outlets that the 360-foot Los Angeles fast attack submarine traveled more than 40,000 nautical miles while conducting maritime security operations. The crew visited ports in Portugal, United Arab Emirates, Spain and Diego Garcia.
The submarine is named for the city of Scranton, Pa. It has a crew of 122 sailors and 16 officers.
